“Phunny Business” is Chicago’s business to watch!

I’m pretty sure that Raymond Lambert at one point could not walk the streets of Chicago unnoticed. He’s after all the one responsible for setting the stage for famous comedians like Steve Harvey, Cedric the Entertainer,  Mo’Nique, Bernie Mac, Mike Epps, and many other notable ones. Raymond Lambert was the founder of All Jokes Aside Comedy Club that was once standing tall in Chicago’s South Loop neighborhood. That comedy club was the only prominent black entertainment comedy club that was built for the African-American community.

I attended the private advanced viewing of  “Phunny Business“, a new documentary film on Raymond Lambert produced by John Davies this evening and can’t wait watch it again with more friends. Besides the hilarious old stand-up clips, I love that you get to see some hidden Chicago history of the black entertainment industry and even on how politics and bigotry in Chicago hindered Lambert’s vision to continue his business in the northern part of the city. If you are a Chicago history buff, this is a movie you should watch!

Raymond Lambert and Nancy Loo of WGN. Loo is one of the committee hostess of tonight's private preview and her travel show "Big Tiny World" was also produced by John Davies, producer of Phunny Business
