Annual IMAGINE fashion show, Bill Cunningham New York, Macy’s Glamorama plus celebs seen around town
I recently attended the 32nd annual IMAGINE fashion show at the UIC Forum to see the International Academy of Design & Technology fashion show. The IADT students’ hard work and creativity towards their fashion careers is uplifting and mind-blowing. A fun fact that I learned is to be unbiased. The designers blindly submit their designs (worn by professional models) to a panel of judges that scores on craftsmanship, creativity, color choice, fabric, etc. The highest scored pieces are then choosen to be seen by the audience!
From furs to swimsuits to McQueen, the show had fashion for everyone. I am also proud to announce that the fashion show raised $17,000 for The Career Education Scholarship Fund (https://www.cesfund.org/) as well as for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicago and Northwest Indiana. My relationship with the IMAGINE fashion show by IADT students started last year and I hope to continue and attend more shows for years to come.
The fashion show was hosted by Val Warner and with musical guest Kristinia DeBarge; who gave a rousing and heart thumping finale of her song “Goodbye,” with the New Generation Fancy Drill Team from After School Matters. My favorite moment of the entire night was the Alexander McQueen tribute titled God Bless McQueen. Yes!!! It was everything I could have hoped for.
The same week I was invited to a cocktail reception for the Chicago opening of Bill Cunningham New York by Nikia of Chi Town Fashionista and co-hosted by Emma of Trés Awesome .
Chicago’s most stylish came out to Tula boutique across from the Music Box Theater where they mingled, shopped and met new friends. Daily Candy hosted the “Candy Bar”; with wine and Grand Marnier cocktails for tasted libations.
